What is Machine Trade?

The Machine Trades Program is a great way to jumpstart a career that offers many opportunities, great pay, and impressive benefits. Here you will learn the ropes to being a machinist as well as a metal fabricator and other essentials.


Your First year will be composed of learning the basic fundamentals of the industry and becoming familiar with hand-tools, Drill-press, and the Lathe.

The Second year of the course advances your knowledge on the Lathe and starts into the basics of the Mill and Surface Grinder as well as basic CNC operating.

The Third year you learn more advanced milling, surface grinding, and CNC control. Non-project base work comes in at a frequent basis from outside sources which may include maintenance for other shops.

The Machine Trades Program also offers Co-op, a program that allows you to work in a shop making a paycheck, all while getting your certification. Leaving the program with the NIMS (National Institute for Metalworking Skills) certification will greatly improve your chances at finding a great, high paying career in this exciting field!
