This course offers instruction for the beginner, stresses safety and instruction welding rods, striking the arc, basic manipulative techniques in oxyacetylene cutting, plasma cutting, oxyacetylene welding and brazing in four major joints. Students will receive an excellent foundation to excel to the Advanced Welding course.
Instruction for Welding I stresses the following topics:
- Welding Rods & their uses
- Striking the Arc
- Basic manipulative techniques in oxyacetylene cutting
- Plasma cutting
This course is a continuation of the Welding I class, that includes oxyacetylene cutting, construction, setup and welding in flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions and an introduction to mig welding.
Prerequisite: Completion of Welding I or similar documented experience.
- In Welding II, the student will learn how to properly strike an arc and sequence beads for various joint designs, students will also learn how to identify the different electrodes used with Shield Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) along with base metal preparation and the various techniques used for each welding position.
