Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) are a vital component of the health care team. The LPN can find jobs in a variety of settings such as long-term care, hospitals, physicians' offices, clinics, schools and home health. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (National League for Nursing, Reflection & Dialogue, Recognizing the Vital Contributions of the Licensed/Vocational Nurse, September, 2011) the projected job growth for LPNs is anticipated to be greater than the average rate.

The Practical Nursing Program is held at the North Campus in Frackville and is available on a full-time and part-time basis. The full-time day program will take one year to complete and is comprised of four terms.  Students will receive theory at STC Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Approximately 3-4 weeks into the program students receive theory on Monday and Friday at STC with the clinical rotation on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (6:45 a.m. - 3:15 p.m.) for 3 terms.  Term IV theory and clinical rotation days will vary.  Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to take the Pennsylvania State Licensure Exam for Practical Nurses.

The part time program will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Class hours will be from 8:00am til 2:30pm. Clinical days will be from 6:45am til 3:15pm. Some days may vary due to the term we are in and  some weekend and evening hours may need to be included. The schedule is subject to change but is announced well in advance.
